On March 11, 2026, the Holley-Navarre Fire District responded to a major motor vehicle accident involving a school bus on Navarre Parkway. According to initial reports, the school bus was traveling eastbound on Navarre Parkway and had stopped in the center turn lane to make a northbound turn onto Sunrise Drive. For reasons that remain under investigation, a red Chevrolet Malibu, also traveling eastbound, veered into the rear of the stopped bus. First responders accessed the driver of the sedan and determined the individual was deceased at the scene. The school bus was carrying 21 students at the time of the collision. Fortunately, none of the students were injured. All students were evaluated on scene by LifeGuard E.M.S. and later released to their parents.

The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit is currently investigating the cause of the crash. The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office assisted with traffic control.
