November 21, 2025 — The Cocoa Fire Department reported that last week, crews took part in a full-scale training scenario designed to enhance coordinated response during large-scale trauma incidents. The exercise replicated a multi-vehicle, multi-victim event, providing responders with realistic conditions that required rapid decision-making, communication, and interagency cooperation.

According to the department, the training brought together numerous partner agencies, including the Cocoa Beach Police Department, Cape Canaveral Fire, Brevard County Fire Rescue, Coastal Ambulance, Port of Canaveral, Health First, and the First Flight helicopter team. Each organization played a critical role in the simulated response, contributing to a unified, mission-focused operation.

Crews practiced triage, patient stabilization, incident command coordination, transport logistics, and aviation interface — all essential components of a real mass-casualty event. The department noted that witnessing so many agencies working together with precision and purpose underscored the importance of ongoing regional collaboration.

The Cocoa Fire Department expressed pride in the teamwork displayed and gratitude toward all participating agencies, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening preparedness and protecting the community through joint training efforts.
