Effingham, NH — November 4 —Effingham Fire/Rescue has launched a Firefighter II "On My Time" program to help local firefighters pursue certification through the New Hampshire Fire Academy. The OMT format allows students to grow outside of typical academy classes while still adhering to Academy curriculum and assessment criteria under the supervision of a state-certified instructor. Captain Felix, a state instructor and NHFA staff member, is in charge of the program, which includes firefighters from Effingham and adjacent mutual aid departments.
The first Auto Extrication Lab session was held on Tuesday night and covered topics such as vehicle structure, tools, stabilizing procedures, and airbag operations. Firefighters Baer, Lavoie, and Keniston participated in a team air bag drill. Approximately half of the required modules are expected to be completed this year, with the remainder scheduled for spring.
