November 19, 2025 — Alachua County Fire Rescue reported that yesterday afternoon, crews from ACFR, Newberry Fire Rescue, and the Florida Forest Service responded to a rapidly spreading wildland fire in the southwest portion of the county. Upon arrival, firefighters found approximately 5 to 6 acres burning, along with a nearby barn that was fully engulfed in flames. The barn contained a substantial amount of hay, which intensified fire behavior and created challenging conditions for responding units.
According to the department, firefighters used brush trucks, tractor plows, and aerial support from a forestry aircraft to contain the fire and prevent it from reaching additional structures. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all agencies involved, the fire was brought under control without any reported civilian or animal injuries.
Alachua County Fire Rescue reminded residents to follow all burn regulations when disposing of yard debris and to stay updated on active burn bans to help reduce the risk of wildland fires.
