Bushkill, PA — October 26 — Following a fall on the McDade Trail in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, a female hiker was saved on Sunday. While Pike County 911 supplied GPS coordinates to direct rescuers further into the woods, Bushkill Volunteer Fire Company set up shop on Route 209 close to the visitor Centre. Before crews scheduled the extraction, the subject was found at 12:37 p.m. and given medical attention. The patient was removed from the terrain by firefighters using the department's UTV, and she was then transported to the hospital by Bushkill Emergency Corps. Rangers from the National Park Service assisted with scene coordination and access. Crews continue to advise hikers to carry charged phones and be aware of their location before dialing 911; this was the 14th environmental rescue of the season.
