Danville, PA — November 9 — Despite persistent rain and chilly weather, the Valley Township Fire Department conducted an outside pump-operations and hose-line training exercise. Eight participants worked in uncomfortable conditions akin to actual fireground settings, concentrating on water-supply setup, pressure control, and moving charged lines.
Relay pumping, hydrant connection, and draughting were among the training evolutions. To maintain a constant flow, control friction loss, and avoid kinks during progress, crews coordinated movement between pump operators and hose teams. In order to ensure a safe and effective opening attack, instructors stressed the importance of accountability and communication.
