Danville, PA — October 28 — On National First Responders Day, Department Firewire Montour County honored police officers, firefighters, EMS providers, dispatchers, and other emergency services workers. The national celebration honors those who respond to crises involving hazardous chemicals, extreme weather, wrecks, medical emergencies, fires, and search and rescue missions.
More than four million first responders, including emergency management teams and 911 telecommunicators, work in professional and volunteer capacities throughout the United States. According to the department, the day symbolises the common goal of agencies that assist one another through cooperative training and mutual aid.
