November 20, 2025 — Full Knowlton Township Fire and Rescue Company No. 1 reported that members dedicated their Monday drill night to reviewing “firefighter down” protocols, focusing on immediate life-saving measures for responders experiencing medical emergencies on the fireground. Training included practicing rapid removal techniques using integrated safety harnesses, which allow injured firefighters to be safely extracted from hazardous environments.

According to the department, members also reinforced the use of personal bailout harnesses as a self-rescue tool, enabling firefighters to lower themselves from upper floors of burning structures when necessary. KTFR emphasized that ongoing training in survival, rescue, and medical response increases readiness and enhances operational safety.

The department noted that it is actively seeking new volunteers, including firefighters, EMS personnel, and social members. Interested individuals are encouraged to visit the firehouse any Monday at 7 p.m. to speak with members and learn more about joining the team.
