Off-duty Lancaster City Bureau of Fire firefighters were in Philadelphia this past February for the Eagles victory parade when an unexpected medical emergency occurred inside a diner. An unidentified patron went into cardiac arrest, prompting the firefighters to immediately begin CPR and provide lifesaving care until Philadelphia Fire Department crews arrived. Thanks to their swift, skilled intervention, the patient made a full recovery. For their actions, Firefighters Erik Scheels, Dave Benson, and Grady Benson were awarded a Clinical Save commendation, recognizing their professionalism, readiness, and dedication to serving others—on or off duty.
