Lafayette Fire Company volunteers handled a busy stretch from October 17 through October 19, responding to 12 calls for service. The weekend began Friday morning with a vehicle accident with injuries in the 100 block of Strasburg Pike, followed by two additional fire alarm responses. On Saturday, crews investigated smoke in the area of Acorn Boulevard, initially dispatched as a building fire, later traced to a dryer vent. Around 2 p.m., Fire Police 63 assisted Station 20 with traffic control at a barn fire before Engine 63 was transferred to Manheim Township’s Station 204 for coverage. Shortly after 4 p.m., Engine 63 was sent to Witmer Fire Protective Association’s first due for a house fire involving an ATV spreading to a garage, quickly extinguished after arrival. As units operated there, another fire alarm—later determined to be burnt food—was dispatched, followed by two vehicle accidents later in the evening. On Sunday around 7 p.m., multiple calls reported a house fire in the 400 block of Mahogany Lane, where crews located and extinguished a lawn decoration, ventilating the home as a precaution. In addition to emergency responses, members—joined by Elizabethtown College students participating in the Into the Streets initiative—completed various firehouse projects, a contribution the company gratefully acknowledged.
