Philadelphia, PA — November 3 — On a crowded street in the city, the Philadelphia Fire Department responded to a residential fire at night. While engine companies extended connections to the inside and ensured a consistent water supply, Ladder 10 was positioned at the front of the building. In order to maintain access for more fire and EMS units arriving on the block, the placement of the apparatus required precise coordination.
As more companies prepared for help, the command allocated tasks for fast intervention, ventilation, and suppression. While vision was poor, thermal imaging assisted in locating heat pockets. Both people and firefighters were not seriously hurt when the fire was restricted to the initial location. Before resolving the issue, crews stayed on the area to overhaul and make sure there were no hidden hotspots.
