Philadelphia, PA — November 2 — Early in the evening, the Philadelphia Fire Department responded to a residential fire on a block of linked row houses. While Ladder 28 and other ladder companies positioned for roof access and ventilation, engine crews created a dependable water supply. In order to provide space for arriving units and emergency medical services, equipment had to be strategically placed due to congested streets and high parking.
While interior teams pushed lines to restrict the fire to the initial unit, the command assigned roles for rapid intervention, ventilation, and suppression. After ventilation was provided, visibility improved, enabling firemen to secure the primary fire area and prevent extension through shared walls. There were no reports of significant firefighter injuries. Before clearing, businesses stayed on the scene for a final hotspot check and makeover.
