Residential Block Secured After Late-Day Fire in Northeast Philadelphia

In the late afternoon, the Philadelphia Fire Department was called to a residential fire on a row of connected residences. While Ladder 29 and related ladder companies accessed the roof for ventilation, engine personnel ran lines to the interior. In order to maintain the water supply and provide space for incoming units, the layout of parked cars and a small street necessitated precise equipment placement.
As additional units were staged for support, the command allocated duties for fast intervention, ventilation, and suppression. Firefighters were able to limit the fire to the original unit and prevent it from spreading via shared walls thanks to improved visibility from roof ventilation. Residents were safe outside, and there were no reports of significant firefighter injuries. Before leaving the area, crews finished the overhaul and looked for any hot spots.
