Philadelphia, PA — 29 October — A two-alarm fire in the Frankford neighbourhood on Wednesday night prompted the response of more than 120 Philadelphia Fire Department personnel. When first-due companies arrived they discovered an active fire inside an auto-body shop and launched an inside attack backed by exposure and ventilation inspections. While suppression operations were underway, nearby establishments were evacuated as a precaution.
After over two and a half hours, the fire was contained by the incident commander. Units stayed on the scene for maintenance and safety inspections, and no firefighter injuries were recorded. An inquiry has been launched by the Fire Marshal's Office to ascertain the origin and cause of the fire.
