Philadelphia, PA — 28 October — At the Philadelphia Fire Academy, twenty-two new EMTs started their first training day this morning. The cadets will study fundamental EMS operations over the course of the following few months, including ambulance operations, active-shooter response protocols, HAZMAT awareness, and critical care for children. They will be better prepared for coordinated emergency response around the city through collaborative drills and physical training with fire suppression teams.
After completing their training, the new EMTs will support one of the busiest EMS systems in the nation by joining field units across Philadelphia. The class was greeted by department leadership, who stated that their service will improve the city's emergency medical coverage and community assistance.
