November 21, 2025 —Garfield Volunteer Fire Company #5 reported that it is seeking the next generation of volunteers and will host an open house recruiting event on Tuesday, December 2. The department invited community members to stop by, meet firefighters, explore emergency apparatus, and learn what it means to serve as one of Garfield’s bravest.
According to the company, attendees will have the opportunity to speak with current members, ask questions about responsibilities and training, and learn about the benefits of joining the organization. The event will run from 7 to 9 p.m. at 33 Plauderville Avenue.
