Saxton Crews Contain Carbon Township Brush Fire Along Creek Line

Carbon Township, Pa. — November 19 — On Wednesday afternoon, the Saxton Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched on Box 35-03 to Broad Top Mountain Road for a reported brush fire. Fire Marshal 35 arrived to discover a raging brush fire along a creek, with an extension threatening an adjacent shed. Tanker 35 responded with a six-person crew and deployed two hand lines to extinguish the fire before moving to overhaul operations.
Tanker 36 arrived next, supplying manpower to assist with suppression and overhaul. Company 3 was also dispatched with two brush trucks but was placed in service before arrival. Unit 15 managed fire standby support while 35 Fire Police maintained traffic control throughout the incident. During the operation, Company 35 was additionally dispatched to assist Fulton 57 on a dwelling fire but was unable to respond while still committed to the brush fire. All units operated until the scene was declared safe.
