Long Pond, PA — 4 November — The Tuesday night practice at Department Tunkhannock Twp. Vol. Fire Co. Station 42, 1539 Long Pond Rd, Long Pond, PA, focused on being prepared for water rescue. Members worked through practical rescue scenarios centered around throw-bag deployment and safe retrieval techniques, examined equipment for shoreline operations, and practiced putting on water-rescue suits.

The increased risks of exposure to cold water as winter draws near were another topic covered in the event. Reminders regarding Pennsylvania's life jacket rule, which requires anybody in a canoe, kayak, or boat under 16 feet to wear a life jacket from November 1 to April 30 owing to the risk of hypothermia in cold water, were distributed to promote public safety.
