Bloomfield, N.J. — November 2 —As residents set back the clocks this weekend, the Bloomfield Fire Department reminds them to test their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Crews point out that one of the simplest methods to improve home safety is to inspect alarms and replace batteries as needed.

Working detectors give early warning and continue to play an important role in injury prevention during emergencies. The government asks all homes to take a few minutes to make sure their alarms are working properly.
