Lafayette, Pa. — October 31 — On Friday night, the Lafayette Township Volunteer Fire/Rescue Department, located at 7004 Route 59, held its annual Trunk or Treat event, which attracted one of the highest community attendance levels in recent memory. Children arrived in a variety of imaginative costumes, and firefighters greeted families from all across the region. Treats were given out by volunteers, who also used the occasion to interact with locals and reaffirm community safety themes.
Strong gusts swept across the area throughout the event, sending crews to two different requests for trees to be taken down across nearby roads. Before going back to the station, firefighters cleaned the rubble and re-established access. According to weather reports, wind gusts in northwestern Pennsylvania exceeded 40 mph, causing roadblocks and scattered debris.
