November 4, 2025 — Full Crescent Hose Company reported that its EMS division responds to nearly 1,700 emergency calls each year, the majority of which are medical in nature, and emphasized an urgent need for additional Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to support the growing demand. The department noted that, like many agencies across the region and nation, it is experiencing a shortage of trained EMTs—a challenge that can lead to increased response times.

According to the company, no prior experience is required for individuals interested in joining. Crescent Hose Company provides all necessary training and equipment to prepare members for service. EMTs are responsible for delivering life-saving care, treating injuries and illnesses, assisting at vehicle accidents and rescues, and supporting community events and standby assignments throughout North East.

The department encouraged residents who are motivated to help their neighbors or learn valuable emergency skills to consider volunteering. Interested individuals are invited to stop by the station or message the company on Facebook for more information on getting started.
