GRETNA - At 6:38pm Mount Pleasant Firefighters were dispatched to provide mutual aid for the City of Gretna Fire Department on a reported motor vehicle crash with unknown injuries on Blue Star Highway just East of Greensboro Highway about a mile outside of the Gretna city limits. This was a joint response with the City of Quincy and Gretna Fire Departments.
Upon arrival personnel found a three vehicle crash that was spread across Blue Star Highway with one vehicle on the eastbound shoulder with heavy front end damage, one vehicle in the median with minor passenger side damage and one vehicle that crossed the westbound traffic lanes and came to rest on the westbound shoulder with moderate front and heavy rear end damage. Fire personnel from the three departments worked to render all of the vehicles safe to work around and began checking for injuries prior to the arrival of Gadsden County EMS. Injuries to the occupants were minor in nature with one occupant transported to the hospital for further treatment. Gadsden County Sheriff's Office along with Mt Pleasant personnel provided for scene safety by closing one lane in each direction for crews to work to clear the debris off the roadway and for the wreckers to pick up the vehicles.
