(OCALA, FL.) June 30, 2025 - Ocala Fire Rescue's Engine 6 and Rescue 6 responded to a vehicle rollover incident at SW 52nd Terrace around 7:25 p.m. While en route, dispatch informed the crews that one individual was trapped inside the vehicle.

Units arrived within three minutes to find a silver Toyota RAV4 on its side, with an unrestrained driver inside. Using cribbing and stabilization tools, the crews ensured the vehicle remained secure as they prepared for the extrication.

Despite a language barrier, Engine 6 and the driver communicated through hand gestures, such as thumbs-up signals, to convey the driver's condition. Once the vehicle was stabilized, the crew created an opening for the patient to crawl out through the sunroof, assisting as necessary. The driver, who was in stable condition, was then placed on a stretcher for transport to the hospital for evaluation.

The Ocala Police Department and Marion County Fire Rescue also responded to the scene.

Rollovers can occur when and where you least expect them. Taking preventive safety measures can help avoid such incidents.

Ocala Fire Rescue reminds the public to always wear seatbelts while vehicles are in motion, reduce speeds during inclement weather or low visibility conditions, and maintain proper tire maintenance to avoid stability issues that could affect a vehicle's performance.
