Center Valley, Pa. — October 29 — On Wednesday, the Upper Saucon Volunteer Fire Department participated in an emergency management drill at Southern Lehigh High School that was assessed by the federal government. Every two years, Lehigh County Emergency Management leads the exercise as part of the county's support for Montgomery County's Limerick Generating Station.

Over a hundred volunteers from different organizations and neighborhood associations took part. Communication, coordination, and response protocols that would be employed in a major radiation incident were the main topics of the exercise. In order to verify adherence to federal preparedness requirements and evaluate the county's overall preparedness, evaluators kept an eye on every stage.
