Kutztown, Pa. — October 24 — Two activities targeted at the community's youngest students were part of the Weisenberg Volunteer Fire Department's ongoing Fire Prevention Month outreach. Firefighters hosted homeschool families at the station on Thursday, providing kids with an opportunity to learn about smoke alarms, firefighter equipment, and home escape planning in a quiet, small-group environment.

A crew came to the Creative Kids Development Centre on Friday to instruct creche and preschoolers in the fundamentals of fire safety. Youngsters picked up basic skills including knowing when to call for assistance, staying low in smoke, and identifying safe meeting spots. Additionally, firefighters demonstrated the equipment and described how the trucks' tools are employed in an emergency.
