October 30, 2025 — The Whiting Fire Company Station 33 celebrated four of its junior members this week for their accomplishments in both the fire service and the Manchester Township High School JROTC program.

Junior members Kyle Heintjes, Logan Kearny, Gavin Nelson, and Jaxson Jamison (left to right) were recognized for successfully completing their C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team) certification, a FEMA-backed program that trains participants in disaster preparedness, first aid, search and rescue, and emergency teamwork. Their certification marked a significant milestone in their development as future responders and leaders within the community.

In addition to earning their CERT credentials, the cadets received individual honors through the JROTC program:

  • Cadet Jamison received awards for Outstanding Uniform and Outstanding Cadet.
  • Cadets Kearny and Nelson were recognized for leading a successful fundraiser that supported program initiatives.

The department commended all four junior members for their discipline, dedication, and growth—both at Whiting Fire and in their academic and leadership pursuits. The company also noted that its Junior Program, now 11 members strong, continues to demonstrate exceptional commitment to community service and personal development.

“Keep up the great work, gentlemen,” the department said in its congratulatory message.
