Parkesburg, Pa. — October 31 —On Halloween night, at 8:09 p.m., the Keystone Valley Fire Department responded to a reported apartment fire in the 400 block of West First Avenue. Parkesburg Police arrived within minutes and confirmed an active fire on the second story Charlie Side. Officers entered the flat, used a fire extinguisher to put out the main body of the fire, and encountered considerable smoke in the process.

Ladder 8 arrived at the area at 8:13 p.m. with smoke visible and requested a working fire dispatch. The team pushed an attack line to the back and determined that the fire had been extinguished upon entry, despite heavy smoke within the unit. Engine 8 arrived second due, and Chief 52 (Lanco) took over First Avenue Command. Mutual-aid organizations helped with ventilation, check for extension, and support operations. The Chester County Fire Marshal’s Office responded to investigate the cause. With Trick-or-Treat activities ending at the time of the call, both Parkesburg Police and KVFD personnel responded rapidly, contributing to the swift containment of the incident.
