Port Royal, Pa. — November 3 — In Turbett Township, Friendship Fire Company No. 1 was called to a first-alarm residence fire off Sawmill Road. They sent out Squad 1, Tanker 1, Brush 1, and Utility 1. While other units staged along Sawmill Road, the Squad and Truck 2 of Mifflintown Hose Company gained access down the lane. To provide a consistent rural water supply, Tanker 1 set up and ran the dump site.
To keep shuttle operations going during the event, two fill sites were built up. Mutual-aid organizations offered assistance both on-site and through transfers to handle additional calls in the area. During the prolonged response, personnel were provided with food and beverages by Harshbarger's and Supporting Our Heroes of Central Pennsylvania.
