November 2, 2025 — The Alpha Volunteer Fire Company (AVFC) reported an exceptionally busy October, balancing emergency responses, training, fire prevention activities, and multiple successful fundraisers.
Throughout the month, AVFC answered 24 calls for service, including eight ALS assists, seven motor vehicle accidents, three vehicle fires, two cover assignments, one automatic fire alarm, one carbon monoxide alarm, one structure fire, and one landing-zone detail.
October also marked Fire Prevention Week, a highlight for the department each year. Firefighters visited APS and several local daycares to teach children the basics of fire safety. AVFC also welcomed families to its annual open house, giving residents a firsthand look at the station, apparatus, and equipment.
Members spent the month sharpening their skills through multiple drills, including joint training at the Warren County Fire Academy alongside Huntington Volunteer Fire Co. #1 (Station 75 Fire). Additionally, five AVFC members completed Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) training — a demanding program that prepares firefighters to rescue other firefighters in life-threatening situations.
Fundraising efforts were equally strong in October. The Ladies Auxiliary once again sold out their tricky tray, members assisted with raffles and drink sales at Alpha Borough’s Fall Festival, and the department celebrated a highly attended annual rib cookoff, supported by both community members and generous sponsors. AVFC expressed deep appreciation for the community turnout, noting that such support is vital to maintaining high-quality fire protection.
AVFC noted that additional Christmas events will be announced soon and encouraged residents to follow their page for updates.
The department thanked the public for its continued support, which strengthens AVFC’s ability to serve the residents of Alpha with professionalism, preparedness, and dedication.
