Palmyra, Pa. — November 7 — After Deputy 3 reported smoke appearing, Campbelltown Volunteer Fire Company, Station 2, and mutual-aid partners responded to a garage fire in South Annville Township. Crews from Company 2 came, set up two handlines and swiftly contained the fire, stopping it from spreading to a building that was only five feet away. To safeguard the nearby property, careful coordination was necessary due to the close spacing between the structures.
Palmyra Fire, Hershey Fire, Lawn Fire, and Annville-Cleona Fire mutual-aid units helped with the overhaul to make sure there was no longer any extension in the garage or surrounding areas. Before clearing, Station 2 staff worked for almost three hours. The event showed how important it is to respond quickly and work across departments to manage fires in confined home spaces.
