New Castle, Pa. — November 8 — Firefighters from New Castle Firefighters Local 160 arrived at a residential structure fire on the east side of the city, they discovered that the house was completely engulfed and posed a hazard to surrounding exposures. In order to summon off-duty personnel back to the station for additional manning, a general alarm was set off. While a water supply was set up, two 1½-inch handlines were employed for exposure protection and suppression.
The tower ladder's master stream was activated in order to contain the massive fire that had spread throughout the building. On the scene, mutual-aid units from the North Beaver Fire Department and the Shenango Area Fire District provided assistance. Before going back into service, crews stayed for a lengthy refurbishment.
