CLIFTON, NJ - The former Vincent's Hilltop Villa (also Skyline View, and Balocco) in Clifton, a once popular restaurant on a hill off of Route 3, now vacant and waiting demolition, was the scene of a fire on November 6th.
At approximately 7:15 P.M., units were dispatched to 110 Vincent Dr. for a reported fire. On arrival heavy smoke was pushing from the large two-and-a-half story abandoned restaurant. An additional engine and truck was immediately requested. Due to the poor condition of the structure, no interior operations were allowed. An initial report of a possible person inside was proved false.
With no exposure issues, the Passaic truck that was dispatched was cancelled. A dead hydrant prompted a long stretch to another at the bottom of the hill. Fire was showing from the second floor and through the roof around a chimney. One ladder pipe was put into operation and the visible flames were quickly knocked down.
Members were then able to cautiously enter the structure to complete extinguishment. No injuries were reported, and the cause is under investigation.
