Thompsontown, Pa. — November 3 — After JC911 dispatched units in the afternoon, Thompsontown Volunteer Fire Company No. 8 responded to a house fire on Sawmill Road in Port Royal's first-due area. Squad 1 arrived to severe, wind-driven fire conditions that necessitated an exterior knockdown before crews could resume operations. The ranch house was severely damaged. Along with other companies from Juniata, Perry, and Mifflin Counties, Company 1 received assistance from Engine, Tanker, and Brush 8. Crews stayed on the scene for safety inspections and overhauls, and no injuries were recorded.
