Pittsburgh, Pa. — November 9 —Just after 5:00 a.m., Pittsburgh Fire, Police, and EMS responded to a reported house fire on the 3700 block of Parviss Street in the Brighton Heights neighborhood. When they arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the upper floors and roof of the home.
Responders learned that an adult male occupant might still be inside, as his vehicle was parked outside. Firefighters entered the home and systematically searched each floor. Shortly after 6:00 a.m., crews found a 64-year-old man deceased in a second-floor bedroom.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control just after 7:00 a.m., but remained on the scene to handle hotspots in the eaves and the third-floor attic area. Detectives from the Fire Investigation Unit found that the fire started in a second-floor bedroom and was accidental. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victim’s identity.
