Ridgewood, N.J. — October 22 — Throughout October, Ridgewood Professional Firefighters FMBA Local 47 visited elementary and pre-K schools across the borough for the department’s annual fire safety outreach. All three shifts took part, giving students a chance to learn basic safety practices and meet the crews who protect their community.

Firefighters gave short presentations on home escape planning, smoke alarms, and when to call 911. Classes also toured a fire engine and watched gear demonstrations, helping students understand how firefighters prepare for emergencies. Teachers noted that the hands-on activities kept the younger groups engaged, especially while exploring the equipment compartments.
