Coolspring, Pa. — November 3 — In an effort to improve the department's long-standing rescue readiness, members of the Oliver Township Volunteer Fire Co. resumed their concentrated Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) training. Although the firm has long offered RIT coverage, most recent sessions have focused on advanced rescue tactics and collaboration. Firefighters rehearsed setting up a high point, using an attic ladder as a stretcher, honing rope and knot work, and replacing air cylinders in low visibility during the most recent training. These drills improved collaboration and reaffirmed safety protocols that are crucial to interior operations.
