Coolspring, Pa. — October 20 — The evening was spent honing the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) techniques of the Oliver Township Volunteer Fire Co. Rescuing firemen who get stuck or confused during interior operations is the responsibility of RIT teams. In order to demonstrate the differences in visibility when locating a downed firefighter in smoke-filled conditions, training includes side-by-side simulations employing thermal imaging cameras. In order to ensure that teams are ready in the event of an inside emergency, the program concentrated on coordination, communication, and rescue tactics.
