Neptune City, N.J. — October 21 —Firefighters from the Neptune City Fire Department responded to two gas leaks in Belmar Borough late Monday morning. At about 10:42 a.m., Station 35 was called to help at 5th Avenue and E Street due to a ruptured gas main. Engine 75 and Chief 67 arrived and waited while New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) crews secured the leak.
While they were on scene, a second gas leak was reported on 4th Avenue. This prompted Engine 76 and Chief 66 to respond. Firefighters again stood by until utility crews safely managed the situation. By 12:58 p.m., both locations were handed over to NJNG, and all Neptune City units returned to service. The quick teamwork between local fire crews and utility workers helped resolve the incidents safely.
