Punxsutawney, Pa. — October 31 — In order to help Station 40 at the site of a two-vehicle collision with reported entrapment, Elk Run Volunteer Fire Company was redirected from a tree-down call. As soon as Engine-Rescue 29 arrived, they started using hydraulic spreaders to remove people from the wrecked cars. Ladder 29 arrived to help with scene support and stabilisation.
The incident necessitated coordinated efforts by Elk Run, Station 40, and local EMS units, and serious injuries were recorded. Big Run Fire Department handled the initial tree-down situation along Route 119 while Elk Run firemen worked on the crash scene, making sure both crises were handled effectively and safely.
