INDIANA, Pa. — November 7 — The Indiana Fire Association was called to a tractor-trailer fire early in the morning on the eastbound off-ramp of Route 422 to Route 286. The driver stated that the axles on his trailer were burning while he was transporting bottled Coke. Before the crews came, he disconnected the cab safely.
When fire chief Lee Thompson arrived, the trailer's floor had half collapsed and on fire. In order to check for further extension, firefighters swiftly put out the flames and made an access hole. While PennDOT checked the pavement for heat damage and Martin Diesel handled vehicle retrieval, the off-ramp was closed for a number of hours.
