Bellwood, Pa. — October 25 — The Excelsior Fire Company No. 1 of Bellwood recently finished two weeks of Fire Prevention programs aimed at educating both children and adults about safety in the community.
Firefighters visited local daycares and the Bell Mansion Apartments to share important information about fire prevention and preparedness. At Bell Mansion, residents took part in a live fire drill. They practiced their evacuation plans and went over safe practices like using kitchens properly and operating space heaters safely.
For the younger audience, firefighters taught key lessons on smoke detectors, how to call 911, and the stop, drop, cover your face, and roll technique. The sessions concluded with apparatus tours and goodie bags, sparking excitement while reinforcing safety awareness.
