Spring Township, Pa. — October 25 —Early Saturday evening, Township of Spring Fire Rescue Services (TSFRS) Engine 85 was sent to the 500 block of Lancaster Avenue in Cumru Township to assist with a reported structure fire.

Initial reports mentioned dark black smoke coming from the roof of a commercial building. When Engine 85 arrived, the crew found a single-story auto repair shop with light smoke coming from the chimney. The building manager told firefighters that the oil burner might not be working properly. Crews entered the structure, performed air monitoring with normal readings throughout, and secured power to the oil burner as a precaution. After confirming no fire extension or additional hazards, E85 stood by while the roof was checked and was later released by command.
