Birdsboro, Pa. — October 28 —At 2:53 p.m., Rescue 7 from the Birdsboro-Union Fire Department (The 7 House) was sent on a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) assignment to the 500 block of Carsonia Avenue in Lower Alsace Township for a fire that was in progress.

First-arriving units faced heavy fire on the third floor and part of the second floor of the building. The older plaster-and-lath construction made it difficult to open up walls and ceilings during the overhaul. Rescue 7’s crew worked on the scene until 5:00 p.m. before being released. The department thanked NFC Station 64 for covering Birdsboro’s first-due area during the incident.
