Newberry, PA - Emergency responders from the Newberry Township Fire Department (Station 31) and emergency medical services personnel executed a coordinated embankment extrication Wednesday following a single-vehicle accident in northern York County.
First responders were dispatched on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, for a motor vehicle collision where a car had left the roadway and plunged down a steep embankment.
Upon arrival, operating crews found the disabled vehicle situated down the incline with an occupant trapped inside the passenger compartment. Firefighters descended the slope to secure and stabilize the vehicle while EMS personnel evaluated and treated the patient.
Working in tandem, fire and ambulance crews safely extricated the occupant and rigged packaging equipment to maneuver the individual up the challenging grade to the roadway above. The patient was safely transferred to an awaiting ambulance for clinical care and transport.
