Colrain, MA — October 27 — On Tuesday evening, the Colrain Firefighters' Association deployed in response to a mutual aid request regarding a first-alarm structure fire located on East Main Street in Readsboro, Vermont. Engine 1 was dispatched at approximately 6:57 p.m. to lend support to local fire crews engaged in suppression efforts, as the reported residential fire necessitated the intervention of neighboring fire departments.
Surrounding fire departments mobilized to bolster the initial response efforts. Incident documentation confirms that personnel from Whittingham and Wilmington were subsequently dispatched to the blaze on East Main Street, prompting further requests for additional resources as operations continued at the scene.
Firefighters endeavored to contain the blaze, and preliminary radio dispatches confirmed that the principal portion of the fire was extinguished during the initial response phase. Concurrently, emergency responders from Readsboro solicited law enforcement support at the incident site.
Readsboro's emergency response infrastructure relied heavily on its all-volunteer fire and ambulance department, rendering mutual-aid agreements a critical component of its operational framework. Situating itself at 51 Main Road in Colrain, Massachusetts, the Colrain Firefighters' Association delivered supplementary regional assistance via the deployment of its Engine 1 unit.
