Ashby, MA — October 12 — In response to a structure fire, the Fitchburg Fire Department deployed its local personnel to the scene while members of the Ashby Fire Department assumed station coverage at the Central Station.

This arrangement enabled Fitchburg firefighters and their apparatus to dedicate themselves fully to fireground operations, while Ashby personnel assumed responsibility for maintaining emergency response coverage throughout the city. The strategic deployment of station coverage proved instrumental during major incidents, ensuring that supplementary resources remained readily available to address concurrent emergency calls.

The Fitchburg Fire Department maintained operational readiness from three distinct facilities: Central Station, situated at 33 North Street, alongside Oak Hill Station and Summer Street Station. Ensuring comprehensive coverage throughout the municipality was paramount, particularly when personnel were deployed on extended emergency missions.

Ashby Fire and EMS delivered comprehensive fire suppression, emergency medical services, and all-hazards response capabilities within its jurisdiction. Furthermore, the department leveraged mutual aid partnerships with neighboring communities to bolster emergency operations whenever supplemental resources were required.

The allocation of station coverage underscored the strategic benefits of interdepartmental collaboration among neighboring fire services. These arrangements not only ensured the continuity of service availability but also bolstered emergency response capabilities, allowing personnel to manage incidents at other locations without compromising operational readiness.
