Pownal, Vt. — October 23 — Pownal Fire Department and Pownal Valley Fire Department responded to a vehicle crash on Route 7 near the racetrack. The truck had come to rest on railroad tracks.

Firefighters found the vehicle unoccupied; the driver had self-extricated and was transported by Pownal Rescue. Rail officials were contacted to stop train traffic, but a southbound train struck the vehicle before the notice was received.

All personnel were clear, and no additional injuries were reported.
