Manchester, Vt. — October 19 — On Sunday, the Manchester Fire Department conducted a controlled house burn as part of a live-fire training exercise. The evolution provided firefighters with valuable, hands-on experience in fire behavior, hose line management, and coordinated interior and exterior operations under realistic conditions.
Crews worked through multiple burn phases to observe fire growth and practice tactical decision-making before the final ignition. Controlled burns like this allow firefighters to refine essential skills while operating in a safe, supervised environment.
The department thanked the property owner and partner agencies for their cooperation in making this important training opportunity possible.
