Alna, ME - Firefighters from the Alna Volunteer Fire Department deployed mutual aid resources Tuesday evening to assist Jefferson Fire & Rescue in extinguishing an active woods fire that threatened a nearby residential structure along Bunker Hill Road in Lincoln County.
The mutual aid call was dispatched on the evening of Tuesday, November 3, 2026, for a reported woodland fire burning in close proximity to a private residence on Bunker Hill Road in Jefferson.
The Alna Volunteer Fire Department responded with a three-firefighter crew aboard Forestry Truck 4 to bolster Jefferson units and additional mutual aid companies on scene. Operating personnel stretched forestry handlines and utilized specialized wildland hand tools to trench the perimeter, expose sub-surface hot spots, and suppress fire that had burned deep into the organic ground duff.
Through coordinated inter-agency perimeter control and saturation efforts, responding crews successfully contained the advancing flames and prevented structural damage to the adjacent home. Operating companies fully extinguished the Lincoln County ground and brush fire within approximately 90 minutes.
