Fire Boat Responds to Overturned Canoe on Connecticut River

Old Saybrook, Conn. — October 27 —On the morning of October 27, the Old Saybrook Fire Department's Fire Boat Gordon B. Smith was called to a report of a canoe that had capsized in the Connecticut River. After being found, the canoe was given to Connecticut DEEP officials. The response was further aided by an ambulance and police boat.

Earlier, shortly after midnight, Old Saybrook firefighters responded to I-95 for a vehicle accident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Mutual aid was provided by Westbrook Fire and Ambulance, along with Old Saybrook Police, Connecticut State Police, and Saybrook Ambulance.
